Democrat Kyrsten Sinema Makes History in Arizona

Kyrsten Sinema made history yesterday as the first female senator elected in Arizona’s history, and the first openly bisexual senator elected in the nation’s history. The democratic senator who beat Republican opponent Martha McSally will take over retiring Senator Jeff Flake’s position. The race was so close that it took almost a week to decipher the winner -- but once Sinema’s victory was announced, McSally quickly took to social media to congratulate the new senator. McSally, a retired Air Force colonel, had previously made history herself as the first woman ever to fly in combat. Sinema will be the state’s first Democratic senator since 1988 (!!!!).
